Bradford Officers and Staff Commended at District Awards 2024

Officers, staff and members of the public who safeguarding vulnerable people at risk of domestic abuse, worked with partners to tackle knife crime and officers who put their lives at risk to help others are just some of the people honoured at the Bradford District Awards.  

The event was held in a special ceremony at Bradford Bulls Stadium, Odsal on Tuesday 18 June.  

The Deputy Mayor for Policing Alison Lowe OBE was there in support, along with various civic leaders, politicians, and senior partners.

Among the awards presented were commendations to officers who have safeguarded people at risk of domestic abuse, showed bravery in difficult and dangerous situations, supported families and victims of crime and making the streets of Bradford safer through tackling knife crime with partners.

Chief Superintendent Richard Padwell, District Commander of Bradford Police, said:  

“It was truly an honour to host the Bradford District Policing awards this year so soon after the privilege of being appointed District Commander.

“The evening highlighted the excellent work and dedication of staff ,officers, partners and members of the public.  

“Bradford is a great place to work and live, my colleagues work tirelessly to keep the public safe, protect vulnerable people, reassure the public and deliver the best service possible.”

Alison Lowe, OBE, West Yorkshire’s Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, said: 

“It was humbling to hear so many incredible instances of bravery and dedication by officers and police staff working in Bradford.  

“Tackling crime effectively and keeping our streets safe requires a partnership approach and I look forward to working closely with Chief Superintendent Padwell and his team.

“Congratulations to all the night’s worthy winners.”

For the diligent investigation of a report of online grooming and sexual exploitation of a vulnerable teenage girl.

In recognition of your outstanding leadership and problem solving with partners, tackling crime and antisocial behaviour to make the communities of Bradford feel safer.

For great collaborative working with key partners after initiating the knife amnesty project, ensuring over 60 weapons were taken off the streets and out of local communities.

 

Member of the Public – Imram Hafeez

For exemplary commitment to supporting children and adults affected by domestic abuse within the Bradford District, creating opportunities for Inclusion through literacy.

 

PC Amy Davidson

For outstanding dedication and effort in securing ten charges against a MARAC Offender via an Evidence Led Prosecution, thereby safeguarding a repeat victim of domestic violence.

 

DC 1035 Louise Clayton

Showing respect and empathy when dealing with a series of non-recent sexual offences against a child victim, the actions taken helped the victim find some closure in relation to the harm they had suffered.

 

DI Laura Casey

For demonstrating exemplary leadership and ensuring wellbeing of the team, during the sudden loss of a friend and colleague.

 

DC  Bethan Windsor

Tirelessly working to identify further victims when investigating a report of non-recent child sexual abuse, where the perpetrator worked in a position of trust.  As a result, the suspect was charged with 15 offences for crimes which occurred between 1987 and 1993.

In recognition of outstanding victim focus and commitment, travelling abroad with little notice to assist with a complex investigation.

In recognition of the collaborative working of neighbourhood teams in Bradford District to arrest, investigate, charge, and remand a prolific offender for 11 crimes.

In recognition of excellent work in developing the Faith Trail in Bradford, the initiative is open to partners and student officers, increasing understanding and engagement.

 

PC Gabby Moore

For the excellent high standard of enquiries completed in an Evidence led investigation, which resulted in the successful charge and remand of a violent offender and protected a vulnerable victim.

For taking swift action, showing bravery and professionalism in detaining a male acting suspiciously and found to be in possession of a handgun and ammunition.

For showing unwavering compassion and empathy whilst dealing with a grieving family at a report of a potential suspicious death.

For dedication when developing significant intelligence to locate a wanted/missing male and showing bravery in apprehending him, despite him being in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
