Retired actor Jack Hogan, best known for starring in World War II TV series Combat! in the 1960s, has died at the age of 94.

As well as playing PFC William G. Kirby across all five seasons of the show opposite Rick Jason, Vic Morrow and Pierre Jalbert, he also acted in Lawman, Adam-12, Sierra and Hawaii Five-O.

Hogan died at his home on Bainbridge Island, Washington of natural causes on December 6.

His son West confirmed the news to Variety.

Born Richard Roland Benson, Jr. on November 24, 1929, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Hogan got his pilot’s licence at 16 and joined the US Air Force after graduation.

He served as a staff sergeant for four years in Japan during the Korean War.

Hogan made his onscreen debut in 1956 in Man from Del Rio after moving to Hollywood, where he took acting classes and worked as a lifeguard at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
