Rugby League news LIVE: Leeds Rhinos make appointment, Josh Hodgson latest, Brian McDermott’s ‘regret’

News Hour

Good morning!

We’ll start with Leeds Rhinos, who have made a backroom appointment ahead of next season.

The Rhinos have brought in Richard Hunwicks from Catalans Dragons as the club’s new performance director, strengthening the team behind head coach Richard Agar.

Hunwicks played a key role at Catalans this year, helping them to the League Leaders Shield whilst working under Steve McNamara and he arrives at Headingley with plenty of experience on his CV, having worked with England, too.

Agar commented: “We are delighted to have secured Richard’s return to the Rhinos. He has a proven track record of success, in particular with England and Catalans Dragons in recent years.

“Personally, I am looking forward to working with him and seeing him develop our young players to fulfil their potential.

“He is used to working with world class players and I know he will bring the very best out of our group. I know Richard will drive our high performance department to be the best it can possibly be.”
