It was not known at the time what was being filmed, although both were seen painting on blank canvases on picnic tables close to the end of the Arm.

It has now been revealed the duo were filming for Vic’s ‘Painting Birds With Jim And Nancy Moir’ show on Sky Arts.

The documentary series features Vic, referred to by his real name Jim Moir, painting alongside his wife Nancy across various idyllic hotspots in the country.

Each episode features a celebrity guest creating an original piece of bird art alongside the couple.

The 65-year-old began the series in April last year having grown fond of the pastime from his home in Charing near Ashford.

The former Shooting Stars host said in 2021 how he paints in the nude at his home – creating art which has gained a big following in recent years.

His growing love of the arts saw his latest episode of Painting Birds air on Tuesday (June 20) when he starred alongside Hill.

The 60-minute programme was filmed at the Harbour Arm, with the trio seen in front of the Grand Burstin Hotel.

Their goal was to paint Mark Dion’s seagull sculpture at the entrance to the now-closed Folkestone Harbour railway station.

Speaking during the episode, Reeves said: “I always thought a good thing to teach at school would be looking.

“An hour of looking at things – walking around just to look.”

Meanwhile, Hill added: “People become self-conscious about what they draw and I think it’s to be resisted.

“Everyone should paint and draw.

“Bruce McLean once said rather than a year of national service, there should be a year where everyone has to draw.”

Whitstable resident Hill, whose real name is Matthew Hall, grew up in Staplehurst and trained as a neurosurgeon at the University of London before turning to comedy.

The 59-year-old also received an honorary degree from the University of Kent in 2014.

During Tuesday night’s episode, Jim and Nancy were also joined by art-loving tots from across the county.

They also travelled to Aylesford Pottery near Maidstone.
