A2 closed in both directions after lorry and cars crash near Brenley Corner

The A2 is shut in both directions after a crash involving a lorry and three cars.

Traffic is queuing between Canterbury and Faversham, following the collision which happened on the road’s London-bound carriageway at about 4.50pm.

The crash happened between Canterbury Road at Boughton under Blean, and Brenley Corner, at Junction 7 of the M2.

A police spokesman said: “Officers are at the scene, which involves three cars and one lorry and the road is currently closed in both directions.”

Traffic is tailing back for several miles, to Wincheap in Canterbury.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area if possible.

A diversion is currently in place, via Canterbury Road and The Street going through Boughton under Blean.

The ambulance service has been approached for more information and the road was still closed at 8.45pm.
