A person had to be winched to safety after an accident on a hill overlooking the Channel.

The emergency services were called to the hillside off Crete Road West, near Folkestone.

A Coastguard helicopter was scrambled to Cheriton Hill, near the Folkestone white horse, and the casualty was seen being winched onboard at about 5pm.

It is understood firefighters were also called.

People reported seeing a number of paragliders leaping from the top and landing at The Warren.
