A large police presence has been spotted responding to an incident in Congleton.

Cheshire police sent five police cars and at least six police officers to the scene of the incident in Festival Hill at around 3pm today (September 26).

A witness told StokeonTrentLive that they saw police officers speaking to two male youths.

They then appeared to detain one of the youths.

Initially four patrol cars attended on the scene, with two partially blocking Festival Hill, near its junction with Bromley Road.

A fifth unmarked police vehicle then rushed to the scene with its siren activated.

The witness said: “A number of police officers were surrounding a youth sitting on a wall. He had his hands behind his back as if he had been handcuffed. There was a bicycle lying on the ground nearby.”

The nature of the incident, or the reason for the large police presence, is as yet unknown.
