Police closed off part of a town amid concerns for the wellbeing of a man who had reportedly climbed onto a roof.

Reports from Folkestone say officers arrived around around 8pm and shut Dover Road between St Michael’s Street and Charlotte Street.

A nearby resident told KentOnline that she believed there were worries for a local man who has mental health difficulties.

She understood he was on the roof of a property with the emergency services trying to get him down.

Traffic in the area was said to be heavy while the road was blocked.

The incident was said to be over by 9.30pm with no further details available.
