A man was injured and a dog seized after it reportedly attacked two other dogs in a popular tourist spot.

An arrest was made after the alleged incident unfolded on The Leas in Folkestone at just after 8am yesterday, police say.

A “muscular” breed of dog is said to have been involved in a fight with two other dogs.

One man who reportedly helped break up the confrontation was injured and treated by paramedics at the scene.

A 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control.

Officers seized the animal and are waiting for an assessment to determine the breed.

Sue Nami witnessed the aftermath while she was walking her daughter’s dog.

She recalled: “There were police cars and ambulances on the scene.

“A big ‘bully’ dog was being held to one side by police. It was light brown with white on its face.

“The dog was sitting up straight when I saw it and its head was about hip height to the man holding it.

“It was muscular with powerful jaws.”

Mrs Nami says two English bulldogs appeared to have been involved in the struggle, and a man was being treated in an ambulance.

“I was worried and upset when I saw it all, and was hoping nothing too serious had happened.” she said.

A police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called to a report of an out of control dog in The Leas, Folkestone at 8.06am on Monday May 6.

“Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and a man was treated for injuries at the scene.

“The dog was seized and a 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control.

“The man has since been bailed and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.”
