Metro passengers warned of delays to the start of service in wake of bank holiday weekend

The beginning of the timetable is expected to be delayed by around 40 minutes when it starts up on Tuesday, June 1.

A spokesperson for the Tyne and Wear Metro said: “The morning peak services will be cancelled.

“Staff will assess the passenger levels to arrange additional trains to assist where possible.

Metro customers are being warned there will be a delay to the service on the morning of Tuesday, June 1.

Passengers are also being warned there will be no trains between Airport and Regents Centre to allow for over head power line work, with the replacement bus service 900 to operate.

Kingston Park level crossing will be closed all day, with a shuttle bus to run from about 5.20am until 12.20am, to take people to the opposite side of the tracks.
