EMERGENCY services have been scrambled after a plane crashed near a Scots airport.

The light aircraft went down in a field near Glasgow Prestwick Airport earlier this afternoon.

An air ambulance was called to the scene

Police, fire and an air ambulance are all on the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.10pm on Tuesday, 23 April, 24 we received a report that a small aircraft with two people onboard had crashed in Monkton.

“Police and Ambulance are in attendance.”

Details of the condition of those on board is yet unknown.
