Severe delays after ‘car overturns’ on A2 coastbound between Greenhithe and Ebbsfleet

There are severe delays near a busy motorway junction following reports a car has overturned.

Traffic was temporarily held on A2 coastbound between the A269 (Greenhithe) and the A2260 (Ebbsfleet) following the incident.

The emergency services and traffic officers were in attendance shortly before 4pm.

Lanes two, three and four are now open on the A2 but lane one remains closed while the recovery and clear-up operation takes place.

It is causing approximately six miles of congestion and National Highways has warned drivers to expect delays of at least 60 minutes.

Traffic is queuing as far as Bexley, with further delays expected around Darenth, Green Street Green, Southfleet, Stone, Greenhithe and Ebbsfleet Valley.

Police and the ambulance service have been contacted for further details.
