A main road has been closed after a person was hit by a car.

Police have described the collision in Northdown Road, Cliftonville, Margate at 11.10am as “serious”.

Emergency services are at the scene and police say the road is closed near the junction with Sweyn Road.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: “Crews arrived on scene and one person was taken to Kings College Hospital in London for further medical treatment.”
