After being found by the dog warden she was taken to Valgrays Border Collie and Animal Rescue.

Staff didn’t realise just how poorly she was until a rapid decline two days later when she had to be taken to the emergency vet.

As well as dropping to an all time low weight of 14.4kg, a virus was ravaging her body resulting in thick green snot and a raspy cough.

The vet later confirmed that she had pneumonia.

The dog warden said: “It’s crazy how much this sweetheart has had to fight just to survive.

“Thankfully, she’s now home with a much better prognosis than when she started. She’s a real fighter and we’re behind her the whole way.

“Liza doesn’t just represent the cruelty of man, she’s also a beacon of hope.

“We pray that seeing her gentle nature in the face of such adversity will help in some way diminish the stigma surrounding bull breed dogs.”
